Bug's Eye View (Online Event)

Look closely on your next Bay Area hike and you may discover an entire world hiding in plain sight.

Beneath leaves, inside fallen wood, along streams and among native plants, insects are living remarkable lives all around us. They may be small and easy to overlook, but their behaviors, adaptations and relationships reveal a whole new side of the landscapes we love.

Join POST and entomologist Eddie Dunbar for a live online event exploring the fascinating world of Bay Area insects. Meet some of the tiny neighbors you may encounter outdoors, look beyond the idea of insects as pests and discover what their stories can teach us about the natural world.

Here’s what we’ll be buzzing about:

• Explore the important roles insects play in Bay Area habitats and the larger web of life.

• Meet local and regional insects and discover some of the behaviors, adaptations and relationships that make them unique.

• Learn how slowing down and looking closely can help you notice more insect life on your next hike.

• Ask Eddie your insect questions during a live Q&A.

You’ll come away with:

• A new appreciation for the insects sharing our neighborhoods and open spaces.

• A better understanding of why healthy, connected habitats matter for wildlife of every size.

• Fresh inspiration to explore the Bay Area with a more curious eye.

Register today and join us on Thursday, October 29, from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. for an evening of small wonders, wild stories and a closer look at the insect life all around us.
