🧠 Lecture: "Bias in Medicine: A Crusade Against 'Normal'"

🎤 Speaker: Dr. Liz Co

Implicit and systemic bias is woven into nearly every aspect of clinical care. Why do we have clinicians, tests, and medical devices that fail to account for the full diversity of human bodies?

Join us for an eye-opening evening as Dr. Liz Co examines the historical roots of these problems and how they continue to shape modern medicine. From medical education to diagnostics and treatment standards, she will explore how assumptions about what is “normal” in the human body have excluded and harmed many communities—and what it will take to rebuild clinical education on a more inclusive foundation.

Dr. Liz Co is a Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at Boston University and the Director of Inclusive Pedagogy for her department. Over her career at BU, she has taught nearly 9,000 undergraduate students. She is also the author of Anatomy and Physiology by Co, the first A&P textbook written with diverse representation as a primary goal.
