🎤 Speaker: Prof. Delvyn Case
Join us for an engaging evening exploring how the Blues became the beating heart of American popular music. Beginning in the Jim Crow South, Prof. Delvyn Case will trace the Blues from its roots in struggle and resilience through its evolution into powerful sub-genres that shaped the sound of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Learn how the Blues gave rise to jazz, country, gospel, and rock ’n’ roll, and how its DNA still pulses through modern genres like heavy metal, punk, and hip-hop.
Prof. Delvyn Case, Professor of Music at Wheaton College, has spent 25 years teaching the history of popular music. A classical composer and musicologist specializing in popular music, he has mentored songwriting students who have been nominated for two Grammy awards.
Come for the music, stay for the stories, and leave with a deeper appreciation for the sound that transformed the world.
