Life Pieces To Masterpieces, a program that has served thousands of Black and Brown boys throughout DC’s Wards 7 and 8, was founded on the vision that creative expression is the opportunity that boys need to change their challenges into possibilities.The unique art style in this exhibition was developed by Black male artists from Ward 7 and is designed to be both collaborative and cathartic. This is Life Pieces To Masterpieces’ signature art process, through which program participants channel their life experiences through acrylic-painted scraps of canvas sewn into colorful collages.Sharing Humanity was put together to honor the work of the many Black and Brown boys and young men who created these paintings during their time at Life Pieces. The exhibition portrays the boys’ challenges, their joys, and their connection to both their home city of Washington DC and to the wider world.Building Bridges Across the River is proud to support "Sharing Humanity". Life Pieces to Masterpieces is the newest resident nonprofit at THEARC, joining the collaboration of 15 nonprofit partners serving East of the River communities.
