Trick ’r Treat: Screening and Q&A with Director Michael Dougherty
A NYC Halloween Film Festival event. Join Michael Dougherty for Season’s Greetings, Trick ’r Treat, and a live Q&A.
To mark our fifth year, we’re bringing you a very special evening with Michael Dougherty, director of Trick ’r Treat, for a screening and live Q&A plus a few surprise tricks and treats!
In celebration of Sam's 30th birthday, we are bringing Sam home to the Lower East Side, where he was first created 30 years ago!
We’ll begin the night with Season’s Greetings (1996), Dougherty’s award winning animated short that introduced Sam, the character who would later become the iconic face of Trick ’r Treat and a beloved figure among horror and Halloween fans.
Recently completed in a full 4K restoration with remastered 5.1 audio, Season’s Greetings is being selectively shared with audiences as a celebration of Sam’s origins and legacy.
Then, experience Trick ’r Treat on the big screen before hearing directly from Michael Dougherty about the making of the film, Sam's New York origins, and the Halloween world he created.
A special screening, a legendary character’s origins, and a milestone moment for our festival. Come celebrate Sam's 30th birthday with us!
