An Evening With Hazel Mae: Before I Let You Go Book Launch

Overview

FilCan Book Festival presents: An Evening With Hazel Mae, in partnership with HarperCollins Canada and the H.R. MacMillan Space Center.

FilCan Book Festival is thrilled to present An Evening With Hazel Mae, in partnership with HarperCollins Canada and the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, celebrating the Vancouver launch of Hazel Mae’s memoir, Before I Let You Go: My Life in Broadcasting, Baseball, and Beyond.

Join us on Sunday, November 15, 2026 at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre Auditorium for an evening with one of Canada’s most beloved sports broadcasters. Hazel Mae will share stories from her remarkable career in broadcasting, her journey through the world of baseball, and the experiences that have shaped her life both on and off the screen.

Doors open at 6:30 PM, with the conversation 7:00 PM.

Tickets are $15 per person, with the option to add a discounted copy of Hazel’s memoir to your ticket. This special pre-purchase price is only available with your event ticket, so it’s a great opportunity to secure your copy at a significant discount. Books purchased at the event on the day of the launch will be available at full retail price.

We are also thrilled to be partnering with the Vancouver Canadians, who will be offering an exclusive giveaway for event attendees. Everyone who attends will have the opportunity to enter to win four tickets to a Vancouver Canadians game during the 2027 season.

Following Hazel’s talk, there will be a book signing, with additional copies of Before I Let You Go available for purchase.

Come celebrate Hazel Mae, a FilCan icon and role model, and the launch of a memoir that takes readers behind the scenes of her life, in and beyond the spotlight.

HAZEL MAE is a key member of Sportsnet’s Blue Jays broadcasts, providing on-field reports, studio analysis, exclusive interviews, and pre-/post-game coverage. She is also widely recognized for her post-game walk-off interviews and in-depth player insights. With a wealth of broadcasting experience, Mae has one of the most trusted and respected voices in sports media today. In December 2025, she was honoured with the prestigious Jack Graney Award from the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in recognition of her significant contributions to baseball media in Canada. Mae is only the second woman to receive this prestigious award. On March 4, 2026, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television announced Mae as the recipient of the 2026 Gordon Sinclair Award for Broadcast Journalism.
