Join the South Asia Institute for Chai, Samosas & Murder: An Evening with Author M.Q. Qureshi, an immersive book launch celebrating Qureshi’s new mystery novel and its unforgettable investigator, Colonel Khan.

Moving beyond the traditional author talk, the evening brings literature, food, and mystery together in three acts.

Begin with a conversation with M.Q. Qureshi exploring the world of the novel from Chicago’s iconic streets to the role food, memory, and place play within the story—followed by an intimate audience Q&A.

Then, the mystery begins.

Pick up a Silver Feather, enjoy hot chai and fresh samosas, and put your powers of observation to the test in a live murder mystery game led by the author. Follow the clues, question your assumptions, and see if you can solve the case before Colonel Khan.

The evening concludes with raffle prizes, exclusive book bundles, and an opportunity to have your copy personally signed by M.Q. Qureshi.

Part literary salon, part mystery game, and part gathering around chai, this is a book launch designed to be entered, not simply observed.

PARKING

There is free and metered street parking in the vicinity. The closest parking garage is 2101 S Michigan Ave Self Park Garage. Due to Soldier Field street parking closures, parking may be limited. We highly recommend using SpotHero for available spots within a few blocks' distance. The parking lot next door at 1927 S Michigan is not the property of South Asia Institute. However, they do offer SpotHero parking, so please check on the app or online.

We recommend taking public transport options. The nearest “L” stations are Cermak-McCormick Place (Green Line) and Cermak-Chinatown (Red Line). The nearest bus stop is Michigan Ave and Cullerton Street; bus routes 1, 3, and 4 stop there.
