WORTHLESSSTUDIOS 8-Ball Benefit Bonanza

WORTHLESSSTUDIOS provides essential resources to ambitious artists during their process of making boundary-pushing new work.

In a city where space is tight, tools are hard to find, and making a life as an artist is a challenge, bringing big ideas to life and art into communities takes a hands-on support network. Collaborating with local artists and community partners, WORTHLESSSTUDIOS creates the space for artists to experiment and take risks. Because the messy, experimental process of artmaking is what keeps NYC’s creative culture alive.

This year we’re skipping the traditional gala and hosting a billiards tournament instead – winner takes home the grand prize, a newly commissioned ceramic vessel by artist Jake Clark.

The 8-Ball Benefit Bonanza will honor the WORTHLESSSTUDIOS Board of Directors - Ben Dean, Michael Forman, David Hamamoto, Ann Harakawa, Jordan Huelksamp and Allen Murabayashi.

Join us for an evening of music, food, cocktails, and friendly rivalry to celebrate our artists and community! All proceeds will support WORTHLESSSTUDIOS’ programs, exhibitions, and commitment to serving the needs of artists.

The Tournament

32 teams. Single elimination. Only one will be crowned 8-Ball Benefit Bonanza Champion!

The Tournament is classic 8-ball played with a few WORTHLESSSTUDIOS twists. Throughout the night, generous donations can unlock game-changing PERKS for your team or PUNISHMENTS for your opponent.

Support our Photographer in Residence program and earn a “REDO”, letting you replay your last shot. Contribute to WARP and hit your opponent with “THE SHORT STICK”, a punishment forcing them to shoot their next shot with a ridiculously tiny cue. The WORTHLESSSTUDIOS BAG OF TRICKS will keep the games unpredictable, the competition questionable, and the fundraising worthwhile. May the best players win!

MC Michael Stauffer from Not Your Standard Bingo will be bringing the noise as The Tournament's lead commentator while Les Filles' DJ Gilly Chan spins vinyl for the cheer squads!
