Join us at Kocktails & Gore for a hands-on Special Effects (SFX) Prosthetics Workshop right in the heart of Royal Oak. Learn how to create quality scars, wounds, and character transformations just in time for Halloween. Whether you’re a makeup lover, horror fan, cosplayer, or just looking for a fun afternoon out. This class is designed for all ages and all skill levels.

DETAILED WORKSHOP INFORMATION

WORKSHOP I SCUPLTING, CASTING, MOLDING 3:30-5:15

Ever wonder how SFX artists create realistic scars, wounds, horns, character pieces, and prosthetics from scratch?

This hands-on workshop takes you behind the scenes of prosthetic creation. You’ll learn the process of developing an SFX appliance from concept to finished piece, including sculpting, molding, casting, and choosing the right materials for different effects.

Perfect for beginners, makeup artists, cosplayers, horror lovers, or anyone interested in learning how professional-style prosthetics are made.

You’ll learn:

  • Basic sculpting techniques for SFX
  • How molds are created from a sculpture
  • Casting prosthetic appliances
  • Different prosthetic materials and when to use them
  • Tips for creating scars, wounds, horns, texture, and character details
  • Your custom mold you get to keep and reuse for years


WORKSHOP II PAINTING, APPLICATION, BLENDING, MAKEUP 5:30-7:30

Creating the prosthetic is only half the transformation.

In Workshop II, you’ll learn how to take an SFX appliance and make it look like it actually belongs on the skin. We’ll cover prosthetic application, seamless edge blending, realistic painting, coloring techniques, and finishing makeupto bring your character or injury effect to life.

You’ll learn how professional SFX artists build believable skin tones, bruising, blood, irritation, depth, texture, and other realistic details.

You’ll learn:

  • Proper prosthetic placement and adhesion
  • Blending prosthetic edges into the skin
  • Painting and color theory for realistic effects
  • Creating depth, bruising, wounds, and skin variation
  • Adding blood, texture, and finishing details
  • Completing the look with character/SFX makeup
  • **For those that do not attend the 1st workshop, you'll be learning how apply (1) premade prosthetics, there will be options but limited


Take one workshop or attend both for the full SFX experience; from creating the appliance to applying and transforming it.

Although Kocktails & Gore is providing all items, we highly suggest foundation of your skin color (keep in mind, your face and body tend to be different color), makeup paints/palettes or alcohol activated paints and cheap paintbrushes listed in the amazon store front: amazon.com/shop/kid_kaylee, or feel free to contact us.
