One question, eighteen minutes, and a room that argues back. Food and a drink included in the ticket — $25 for the first 60.
This month David R. Oakley opens the night. Twenty-five years as a criminal defense attorney in New Jersey, a background in the humanities, and the kind of life experience that doesn't fit on a CV. He has spent much of his career standing next to people on the worst day of their lives.
He gets eighteen minutes. Then the room gets him.
HOW THE NIGHT WORKS
18 minutes. One speaker, one idea, no slides, timed. Not a lecture — a starting gun.
45 minutes of open dialogue. Anyone can jump in. Push back, disagree, ask the awkward question. Closer to a great conversation among friends than a Q&A.
Then the best part. Music, food, drinks and time to keep the conversation going. This isn't just what happens afterwards — it's usually the reason people come back. It's where the conversation breaks into small groups, where numbers get exchanged, and where people who were disagreeing an hour ago turn out to be friends.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
· Light bites · One welcome drink · No rush to leave · A room full of people who'd rather talk about something real than talk about work
WHO COMES
Curious people. That's the whole filter. Professionals building careers in New York who are tired of conversations that stay on the surface, and who'd rather spend a Thursday talking about something that matters. You don't need to know anything about the topic to take part — just come ready to think, listen, and ask good questions.
Bring your people, or come on your own. Plenty do, and nobody stays a stranger for long.

A Thinkglao is a pause button for modern life. Part talk, part gathering, part late-night conversation you didn't know you needed.
It exists for people who are tired of noise, speed, and conversations that never go anywhere. For one night, the idea is simple: stop, think, ask better questions, and meet people who are willing to do the same.
Thinkglaos are built for free people in noisy times: small gatherings where disagreement doesn’t have to mean distance, where curiosity matters more than performance, and where being human together still feels possible.
You don’t come to be told what to think. You come to think with others.
