Together with the Jazz Generations Initiative New Orleans and support from the Shockoe Institute, MacArthur Foundation Fellow and New America Foundation Fellow and professor Josh Kun, and acclaimed DJ/producer J.PERIOD present the New Orleans installment of THE ART OF THE CROSSFADE — a distinct four-city concert series that seeks to energize audiences across the country by connecting their own musical histories to the collective civic imagination.

At the center of the experience is the crossfader — the horizontal slider on a DJ mixer that allows two songs to blend without erasing either. In the hands of a DJ, different sounds, histories, and perspectives can coexist to create something entirely new.

Launched in Los Angeles in the summer of 2026, THE ART OF THE CROSSFADE will bring its dynamic multimedia touring program to New Orleans on Saturday, October 10 for one night only, blending a dynamic musical lecture with interactive community engagement that culminates in a high-energy, one-take Hip Hop “mixtape” performed LIVE at Music Box Village, featuring an all-start lineup of artists, musicians, DJs and community voices representing the past, present and future sounds of New Orleans.

This isn’t a concert.

It’s a live remix of New Orleans itself.

One unforgettable night, celebrating the sounds, stories, and cultures that shape America.
