NITA In Action: What comes next?

Panel experts, candidates, and elected officials will discuss the passing and implementation of the new Northern Illinois Transit Authority (NITA).

Almost a year ago, Chicagoland transit was facing a $700 million fiscal cliff. Chicagoland's CTA, Metra, and Pace would have been forced to cut service significantly, making our transit slower, less reliable, and more expensive.

Thankfully, in the final moments of October's Veto Session, Illinois legislators came together to pass the Northern Illinois Transit Authority Act, a landmark piece of legislation securing $1.5 billion to more robustly fund transit in Chicagoland.

With the NITA Act taking effect starting in June, discussions are happening everyday on how best to use this money to make our transit the best it can be.

In this event, we'll be joined by the legislators that championed this cause in Springfield and fought in the final moments to save our transit system from financial doom. We'll learn from them, transit advocates, and experts why the CTA, Metra, and Pace are so important to our regional economy and city.
