This tour will highlight the architecture and history of Crown Heights North. From the late 18th century to today, this neighborhood has had many differing groups call its streets home. The architecture represents urban growth, investment, disinvestment and reinvestment, highlighting these demographic and historic changes. Considered by many to hold some of Brooklyn’s finest late 19th and early 20th century architecture, we shall explore artistic movements and trends as realized in brick, terra cotta and stone, for residential, commercial and religious spaces. We’ll also visit the homes and sites of some of the architects, artists and societal influencers who produced some of their finest work in Crown Heights North.
