Tadori

In the endless process of grieving our lost loved ones,

we trace our connections to them,

much like tracing an invisible phoneline.

Sapporo & San Francisco

Tadori is presented by ayanadancearts, led by director Ayana Yonesaka, a dance artist born and raised in Sapporo, Japan.

Ayana lived in San Francisco for 13 years, performing and presenting her choreography before moving back to Japan in 2022. She returned with the goal of connecting the two dance communities through her creative work and teaching.

Tadori was first created and performed in Sapporo in 2025. The piece is now making its way back to San Francisco, joined by her longtime Bay Area collaborators for its first cross-Pacific premier.

KAZE — Photography Exhibition

As part of the production, Japanese photographer Ayumi Fujita will travel from Tokyo to San Francisco to present KAZE (Wind), a photo exhibition created in collaboration with Tadori.

"Wind" holds great significance within Tadori.

When things move, the air is stirred.

But is this movement limited to physical objects? Perhaps the wind can also be stirred by human emotion.

Ayumi’s photographs are presented alongside the performance as part of the production.
