Returning for its second powerful iteration, this festival features an extraordinary lineup of original, historically informed masked dances, guest choreographers, and ancestral, community-centered processionals. Central to this year's gathering is a sacred, masked processional drawing deeply from the historic North Carolina Jonkonnu lineage. As children of North Carolina, Executive Artistic Director Fatima Logan-Alston and Musical Director David Alston embrace this path not merely as artists, but as rightful keepers of a sacred ancestral tradition. Rooted in 25 years of oral tradition and African Contemporary dance praxis, this festival utilizes the proprietary, relational community-building methodologies and overarching conceptual vision of Fatima Logan-Alston, exploring the deep interconnectedness of tradition and modernity.

Activating this concept is a powerful sonic landscape featuring live, original music curated and composed by David Alston, masterfully translating the core thematic vision into a living, modern acoustic experience.
