Overview

Williams Baptist University presents A Bad Year for Tomatoes, a hilarious two-act comedy by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright John Patrick.

Williams Baptist University’s Department of Communication Arts presents A Bad Year for Tomatoes, a two-act comedy by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright John Patrick and directed by Melinda Williams, assistant professor of communication arts.

Fed up with the pressures of fame, starlet Myra Marlowe escapes to a small New England town, hoping for some peace and quiet while she writes her autobiography. But when her curious neighbors become a little too interested in her life, Myra invents a mad, homicidal sister—who is actually Myra herself in disguise!

Things quickly get even more complicated when the local handyman falls for Myra’s fictional sister and the neighborhood church ladies become determined to save her soul. What follows is an entertaining mix of mistaken identities, eccentric characters, and unexpected chaos.
