The Smell of Banana Flowers
October 29 - November 22, 2026
Opening Reception: October 29th, 6-8pm
The Smell of Banana Flowers, curated by Priscilla Aleman, reimagines the tropics not only as an ecological force, but as a metaphysical conduit—capable of transmitting memory, intuition, and transformation across generations. Rooted in personal mythology inspired by the artist’s grandfather—a Cuban horticulturist shaped by tropical cultivation—this exhibition unfolds as a bio-mythology: a living narrative shaped by ancestral memory, plant knowledge, and acts of transformation.
The work explores intersections of ecology, diaspora, ritual, and embodied memory to create a shared environment where sculpture, performance, and installation intertwine—transforming the gallery into a living garden of collective myth and material storytelling.
