After5Boston - Beyond the Hype: How To Actually Use AI
Turn everyday ideas & frustrations into simple, personalized AI tools no coding required, just curiosity and a willingness to experiment
A Conversation on AI, Creativity, and Making Technology Personal
Join an AI educator and creative technologist for Beyond the Hype: How to Actually Use AI, an interactive exploration of how AI can become a practical tool for solving everyday problems and turning half-formed ideas into something useful. Together, we'll move beyond the hype and discover how simple prompts and experimentation can transform ordinary frustrations, personal projects, and “there should be an app for that” moments into customized tools and experiences.
What We'll Cover:
• From idea to AI tool - Learn how to turn an everyday problem or creative idea into a clear request that AI can help bring to life.
• Experimenting without coding - Explore practical examples of personalized AI tools, from travel itineraries and journals to recipe helpers and interactive games.
• Making AI work for you - Discover why an imperfect tool built specifically for your needs can sometimes be more useful than waiting for the perfect product to exist.
Whether you're new to AI or already experimenting with it, you'll leave with practical ideas, creative inspiration, and a new perspective on what you can make with AI yourself.

About The Speaker:
Alice Obas O'Connor works at a Series A startup helping financial services companies adopt AI, drawing on a background in investing, private equity, and venture capital. She holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she focused on entrepreneurship, and is a Williams College alum. A tinkerer and builder at heart, Alice loves experimenting with new ideas and helping others see what they can create. She’s also the founder of Women Dine AI, a Boston community for women shaping AI, and is passionate about growing the city’s tech ecosystem. Outside of work, she enjoys long walks along the Esplanade and performing in theater. Earlier this year, those interests in technology and performance collided when she voiced an artificially intelligent character in Algorithm of Happiness.
