The Color of Hibiscus - Natural Dyes Workshop

About the workshop:

Nature is a generous source of color, offering a nuanced palette through flowers, leaves, bark, and seeds. In this hands-on workshop we will explore the hibiscus flower and its chromatic potential as a natural dye.

Led by textile artist Isabel Infante, participants will experiment with natural dyeing, learning tie-dye and shibori techniques to create resist patterns on a 100% silk scarf. Through this process, they'll discover the expressive possibilities of plant-based color and create a unique textile piece to take home.

Designed as a relaxed and approachable experience, the workshop invites participants to slow down, engage with natural materials, and enjoy the quiet pleasure of working by hand. No previous textile or dyeing experience is required.

Instructor Bio:

Isabel Infante is a textile artist and Textile Naturalist whose practice explores the relationships between textiles, nature, and cultural knowledge. Working with natural fibers, plant-based dyes, weaving, and other textile techniques, she investigates the material and expressive possibilities of natural resources. Isabel has extensive experience teaching textile techniques through workshops and educational programs, creating accessible and engaging experiences that connect participants with nature and the process of making by hand.
