Step into the world of fashion and design at the Mood Fabrics Showroom in Ponce City Market! This class is geared towards complete beginners who have little to no knowledge about sewing machines. This hands-on workshop is designed to take you from a complete novice to a confident beginner.

Led by expert instructor Danesha Anglin, you will get up close and personal with the mechanics of a sewing machine. You'll spend the class actively practicing essential techniques while prioritizing safety.

What You'll Be Doing

• Decoding the Machine: Identify and understand the function of every key part of a standard sewing machine.
• Prep Masterclass: Learn the foolproof, step-by-step method to wind a bobbin, insert it correctly, and thread the machine without the tangles.
• Stitch Practice: Get hands-on experience practicing a straight stitch which is the most common stitch type.
• Fixing the Glitches: Build a mental toolkit to troubleshoot and fix common stitch issues on the fly (no more bird's nests!).

What to Bring

• Your Own Machine (Optional): You are highly encouraged to bring your personal machine if you'd like to get comfortable using it! Please bring your power cord, foot pedal, and manual.
• Just Yourself (Alternative): Mood Fabrics has 7 sewing machines available to use during class on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Notepad & Pen: Highly recommended if you like to jot down tips, tricks, and troubleshooting reminders.
• Note: Practice fabric, thread, and basic tools will be provided for all participants.

Expect an encouraging, high-energy, and collaborative environment. This is a highly interactive, practical class where you spend the majority of your time getting a hands on experience with the machine. You’ll walk away with the practical muscle memory and absolute comfort needed to tackle your own sewing projects independently at home.

Class Registration & Cancellation Policy

Refunds for the ticket price are available for cancellations made up to 24 hours before the event start time. Please note that Eventbrite’s service fees are non-refundable, so you will receive a partial refund equal to the ticket amount minus those fees.
