Intro to Photography (ages 12-17)

*NEW* Introduction to Photography class 📸 led by teaching artist Jessica Parga, will meet at the Art Depot in downtown Hollister on Thursdays from 4:00-5:00PM and is recommended for students ages 12-17.

For a total of ~4 classes a month, to attend the following months student's must re-register*

This class is grounded in hands-on practice. Classes will begin with an intro and then the class will engage in photography practice in our backyard area or photo walk to practice learned concepts.

The class will go over the technical workings of the camera like how to use manual mode (shutter, aperture, ISO) and how different focal lengths affect images. Shutter and aperture can be broken up into individual lessons. Light and use white/black poster boards to bounce light onto subjects, and flash practice and how to balance that with natural light.

• Technical mastery: Learn to work a camera and how to customize settings.
• Photography Practice: Develop hand coordination, control, and basic camera understanding.
• Exploration: Go on photography walks and learn to adapt camera settings to real life surroundings.

*Class will require offsite locations, parents or guardian must either be present or sign proper release form for participating student.

Registration for this class is $65/per student/per month. Siblings qualify for a $10 discount. Registration must be renewed prior to the start of each monthly session.

📍Classes meet weekly at the Art Depot, 35 Fifth St Ste. D in Hollister for the duration of the month registration
