Fall Tree Walk at Elmwood Cemetery

Fall Tree Walk at Elmwood Cemetery

Overview

Explore some of the amazing trees in our certified Arboretum with a knowledgeable local arborist.

Join us for a walking tour of the Elmwood Cemetery Arboretum! We have over 1200 trees on our grounds representing 90+ species, with a wide variety of oaks, maples, chestnuts, hickories, beeches, willows, and elms. (Of course elms!) Local master arborist Todd Fleishans will guide you through them, highlighting some of our notable specimens and sharing tree care basics and tree identification tips on this informal and hands-on group walk.

Trees have been central to Elmwood Cemetery’s landscape design since it was established in 1846. Even Frederick Law Olmsted singled out the significance of Elmwood’s “ancient trees” when he consulted with the cemetery in 1891. Learn how the trees support a vibrant local ecoystem and the health of our whole community and see their splendid fall colors!
