Aperitivo Italiano: Bubbles to Bold - A Fall Evening in Italy

Bubbles to Bold features a curated tasting of four distinctive Italian wines, each offering a different expression of Italy’s diverse wine regions and traditions. We’ll begin with the freshness and brightness of Chardonnay, followed by the refined character of Alta Langa DOCG, a traditional-method sparkling wine from Piedmont known for its fine persistent bubbles, vibrant acidity, and elegant complexity.

From there, we’ll transition into the bold world of Italian reds, exploring the depth and structure of Sagrantino, a powerful grape from Umbria known for its pronounced tannins and intensity, before concluding with Amarone, one of Veneto’s most distinctive wines, celebrated for its richness, concentration, and layers of dried-fruit and spice.

Meet the Presenter

Giovanni Montanelli, who brings a passion for Italian wine, food, and culinary traditions, along with a deep appreciation for the stories and craftsmanship behind Italy’s gastronomic heritage. As the Chief Ambassador of Vero Italian Traditional Food, he works to promote the authenticity and excellence of traditional Italian products, sharing the flavors and stories behind Italian gastronomy with audiences across the United States.

A familiar face at the Italian Cultural & Community Center of Houston, Giovanni has previously joined us to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for Italian food and wine. We are delighted to welcome him back for another special evening at the ICCC.

An aperitivo is more than an Italian version of happy hour; actually, it is a cherished Italian ritual that brings people together over wine, conversation, and small bites before the evening begins.
