The Span of Japan travels across centuries of Japanese culture, exploring how tradition, beauty, ritual and reinvention have shaped the country's extraordinary creative identity. Through visual art and cinema, we'll journey from historic artistic traditions and the elegance of ukiyo-e to Japan's dramatic modernization, postwar avant-garde movements, the international influence of Japanese filmmakers, and the vibrant visual culture of contemporary Japan.
