Diasporic Decorative Dyeing

Diasporic Decorative Dyeing

Overview

A hands-on indigo dyeing workshop rooted in world history and indigenous craft knowledge.

Join us [again!] in Manhattan on Saturday, September 19th at Clinton Community Garden in Hell’s Kitchen for an afternoon of exploration into vernacular decorative indigo dyeing techniques. ‌

The workshop will journey through the various decorations, patterns, and techniques seen in some cultures in Asia and West Africa to create culturally important textiles dyed with natural indigo.

Each attendee will take home their very own indigo dyed bandana using some of the techniques reviewed.
