Join us on this guided walk to hear about deaths, corpses, burials and dissections, all based on the lives of real Mancunians in history.
This guided history tour in Manchester features stories of deaths, and particularly corpses, in the city’s past, and highlights the lives of the real people involved.
We will look at how Mancunians of the 18th and 19th Centuries reacted to death and respected (or not) the dead. Hear stories of burials and graveyards, dissections and an Anatomy school, how the dead could be punished, and a desecrating act that caused a riot.
The walk starts at 3pm and lasts about 75 minutes, so please meet in the middle of St John’s Gardens from 2.45pm for a 3pm start.
We walk whatever the weather so please dress for the weather and a walk around town.
Your guide is Philippa Vishnyakov, a qualified Green Badge Guide for Manchester since 2009.
