Overview

Build a systematic growth engine for professional services using relationships, referrals, networks and expertise!

Sales Enablement for Professional Services

Professional services businesses often possess enormous commercial assets: strong relationships, extensive networks, expertise, reputation, and referrals.

Yet business development can still be surprisingly inconsistent.

The problem is usually not the absence of relationships or opportunities. It is that these assets are not activated and managed systematically.

Referrals are valuable, but are often left to chance. Networks may contain hundreds or thousands of relationships, yet only a fraction are actively nurtured. Business development gets pushed aside when client work becomes busy. And too much growth often depends on individual effort rather than a repeatable commercial system.

What will we explore?

This 2-hour interactive mini-workshop will explore how professionals and professional services firms can build a more systematic Sales Enablement Engine around the relationships, referrals, networks, and expertise they already possess.

We will look at:

  • The difference between having a network and activating a network
  • How to build a Referral Management Engine rather than leaving referrals to chance
  • How to nurture relationships before there is an immediate opportunity
  • Why business development needs a regular operating cadence
  • How to avoid the cycle of getting busy with client work, neglecting business development and then facing a weak pipeline
  • How to make business development more systematic rather than relying on occasional bursts of activity
  • The TRAITS framework: Target, Referral, Attract, Invest, Transact and Sustain
  • How these elements can work together as an integrated commercial engine

This is not conventional sales training

This workshop is not about cold calling, sales scripts, or aggressive closing techniques.

Professional services are built on expertise, trust, relationships, and credibility.

The question is how to turn those strengths into a commercial engine that works more deliberately and consistently — without turning professionals into traditional salespeople.

During the workshop, you will have an opportunity to reflect on how you currently develop business, identify gaps and determine where greater systemization could make the biggest difference.

Who is this workshop for?

The workshop is relevant to anyone responsible for winning, developing or growing business in professional services, including:

  • Independent consultants and advisors
  • Coaches
  • Lawyers and legal professionals
  • Accountants and finance professionals
  • Management consultants
  • Recruiters and executive-search professionals
  • Engineers and technical consultants
  • Technology and IT services professionals
  • Partners, directors and managers
  • Founders and business owners
  • Professionals who are beginning to take greater responsibility for business development

Whether you are building your own practice, developing a portfolio of clients or helping grow a larger professional services firm, the underlying challenge is similar:

How do you make business development systematic without making it feel like selling?
