Join us this summer for a 2-day summer arts intensive for students in grades 4 - 7

This 2-day program will take place in the incredible new Visual and Performing Arts Center at Western Connecticut State University, a 97 million dollar state-of-the art facility designed to provide students with the best educational experience in Art, Music, and Theatre. Your child will have the opportunity to explore the world of Theatre and Art through workshops focused on introducing concepts of storytelling, improv, and creative ingenuity, all taught by our staff of seasoned professionals.

The program runs from 10AM - 2PM (drop off at 9:30AM, pick up at 2:15PM) on Saturday July 22nd and Sunday July 23rd, with a 3PM performance on Sunday in the Studio Theatre featuring your students. The theme of this years summer arts program will be the story of Icarus - providing students with an in-depth look at innovative ways to recreate classic stories through Art and Theatre.

Instructor Bios: 

                                                                Director and Instructor - Anthony DePoto 

A native of Danbury, CT, Anthony graduated from Western Connecticut State University in 2009. While there, Anthony appeared in three Off-Broadway shows and in 2007 performed in Romeo and Juliet at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.  In May of 2012, he received his M.F.A. in Acting from Minnesota State University, Mankato.  Anthony has also performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. in Mary Zimmerman’s version of The Odyssey as well as other television on film credits.  Anthony has also worked in the Education departments of Hartford Stage, The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis and most recently Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut and is the founder and owner of “innerAct Theatre L.L.C.”, which is a traveling theatre education company. He received his B.A. in Theatre Arts (Performance) from Western and his M.F.A. in Acting from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2012.


                                                                   Artist and Instructor - Stacy Kolbig 

Stacey Kolbig is an multimedia studio artist, graphic designer and educator. Exhibiting nationally, her work has been shown in Congress, Washington D.C., The Katonah Museum of Art, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum and Governors Island Art Fair.  Her practice is installation based and combines sculpture, photography, video and drawing with the intent of “re-purpose the terms of painting through sculptural form.
