This two-day workshop will serve as an introductory training to robotics with FIRST Tech Challenge! No cost to attend!
Are you interested in bringing robotics to your school or organization? Do you want to see how robotics competitions can boost engagement and skill development for middle school and high school students? If so, consider joining us for our two-day FTC workshop for rookie and veteran robotics teachers!
This workshop will serve as an introduction to one of the biggest robotics programs we provide at the TTU WCOE - Outreach & Engagement program! This training will go over the bare essentials of starting a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team and how it can be integrated into your lessons and/or extracurricular programs!
Activities and topics will include:
- Building a starter bot to get a feel for the program and the different robot kits that are available.
- An introduction to robotics programming and how it can be used to measure student outcomes in computer science.
- How to register and structure a team.
- CTE integration tips.
- What lesson plans are available that can be used.
- How to get started funding a team.
This workshop is targeted to new coaches/teachers, but veterans are more than welcome to join!
FIRST Tech Challenge is a robotics program for middle school and high school students, where teams are formed to compete in a robotics game that changes every year based on the current theme. Through FIRST Tech Challenge, students learn the crucial skills needed to become the future generation of problem-solvers and innovators our world needs!
At the TTU WCOE Outreach & Engagement program, we help run and deliver the FIRST Tech Challenge program for schools and organizations in the West & Panhandle Texas area.
