<A HREF="https://therightbraininitiative.org/shift/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">SHIFT: an experiment in fashion design</A> is a fundraiser and runway fashion show for <A HREF="https://therightbraininitiative.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Right Brain Initiative</A> (a program of the <A HREF="https://racc.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Regional Arts & Culture Council</A>)! 
 
We are putting out a call-to-designers/design teams of all ages and skill levels to submit garments made from nontraditional and found materials. Each piece will display inventive form, style and a creative juxtaposition—shifting the materials from their original form into wearable couture. A panel of local celebrity judges will award three cash prizes to the top designers/design teams and one designer/design team will be named People’s Choice by our audience!

RUNNER UP: $500
THIRD PRIZE: $250
PEOPLE’S CHOICE: 2019 SH/FT Trophy
 
New this year we are excited to announce our theme: House of the Absurd! Inspired by the nonsensical imaginings of the Dada art movement, we invite designers to explore this whimsical world of the unexpected.Check out our <A HREF="https://www.pinterest.com/rightbrainpdx/shift-house-of-the-absurd-mood-board/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Pinterest mood board</A> to spark some ideas!
 
Our application will be released on Wednesday, March 27 and due on July 1. The runway show will take place on Thursday, Oct 3 (6-9 PM). The application will be available <A HREF="https://therightbraininitiative.org/shift/call-to-designers/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">online</A> (pdf download) or by request (see contact information below). SH/FT Designer Info Sessions are meant to help you with the application process, provide some design inspiration, learn about the event itself and ask questions.
