Feeling creatively stuck? Struggling to see yourself as a creative person? Join us for Inner Waves, a gong sound journey inspired by Rick Rubin's book "The Creative Act: A Way of Being" .

"The Creative Act: A Way of Being" frames creativity as a daily mode of perception rather than a rare talent. Rick urges readers to strip away expectations, attune to inspiration, and treat each choice as a form of self‑expression.

The ability to look deeply is the root of creativity. Come vibe with a group of positive, supportive people. Let rich, resonant sounds help you relax and tap into your inner creative flow.

What to expect:

• Some light movement to shake off the day.
• Quietly reflect on brief reading from "The Creative Act: A Way of Being".
• Settle in and be enveloped in gentle sound. Ride where sound takes you!
  

All are welcome! This is a sound meditation session - not an art session. No meditation or creative experience necessary. Wear cozy clothes. Mats & blankets available. Journals welcomed.

Doors open at 6:30pm.

About Stephanie Wood – Sonic Creations
Hello! I am a sound artist, educator, and trauma-informed wellness practitioner. My sonic work spans acoustic and electroacoustic form, creating immersive soundscapes centered on deep listening, creativity, and connection. I love collaborating with and learning from diverse expressive artists, community groups, and wellness/spiritual practitioners. Collaborations range from ambient to noise, often incorporating gongs and DIY instruments, sound FX, and found objects. Collaborations include Bhakti Studio, DAPIANbutoh Collective, Art Thuja, Gallery 1412, and more. You can also find me playing huge gongs with local goth group Society of the Silver Cross. I previously played in Denver’s avant garde ensemble Itchy-O, opening for artists including David Byrne, Beats Antique, and DEVO. Both Sonic Creations and Seattle Avant Garde Music Society are my creative personal platforms.
