Overview

Portland's own powerfiddle genrequeer rock quintet celebrates their new album with a rare appearance from legendary folk-punk band O'Death.

Portland Maine’s Oodellaly believes that music, like most things, is most powerful when it is a collective act. The five members’ alchemical and deeply collaborative process synthesizes influences as diverse as punk, prog, bluegrass, and Klezmer into the band's singular sound. The songs that emerge are angular, textural, and dynamic, sliding effortlessly between time signatures and various instrumentation. What gives them cohesion is a shared emphasis on moments of collective experience: watching the clouds over Casco Bay; a night on the town with new friends in a strange place; aging with and around people who love you. In telling these stories, Oodellaly speaks from a future of rock music that knows no bounds or binaries.

Formed in Brooklyn in 2003, the legendary folk-punk band O’Death returns to SPACE for their first live appearance as a full 5-piece band since 2019. This extremely rare appearance underscores the band's massive influence, with a sound once described byThe New York Times as drawing “from the starkness and spiritual purity of Appalachian folk, the menace of punk and the rowdy theatricality of Tom Waits, jumbling sacred and profane."
