Marcel Heijnen: EP Launch - Doomscrolling into Oblivion (2026)
On 10 October, join us at the Godown to welcome Marcel Heijnen’s latest EP - Doomscrolling into Oblivion
Following his solo albums Residue (2010) and Forever For Now (2021), Marcel Heijnen returns with a brand-new 5-track EP, Doomscrolling Into Oblivion, and he’ll be performing the new material live at The Godown.
He’ll be joined onstage by an impressive lineup of collaborators from the EP, including Erwin Smulders on bass, Robbert Pas on drums, guitarists Daragh Gillen, Aryeh Hasfari, Kyle Kalebdjan Clark, as well as Jan Diessen on saxophone, and Amanda Tse on violin.
Also featured on the record: clarinettist Cîger and (sadly too far from Amsterdam to join us on the night): vocalist Ms Lolo (Hong Kong), flutist Andy Chia (Singapore), cellist Brian Bromberg (Hong Kong), and flugelhorn player Gary Badger (Australia).
Marcel handles vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, and rhythm programming across the EP himself.
The title Doomscrolling Into Oblivion is taken from a line in the track “Oblivion” and sets the stage for the EP’s lyrical themes: colonialism (“Nailed It Screwed It”), societal fragmentation (“Shades Of Black And White”), the dark side of social media (“Oblivion”), religious dogma (“God’s Ghostwriter”), and the state of the world today (“May You Live – In Interesting Times”).
All the fun stuff. But don’t worry, we promise it’ll be an enjoyable evening.
Doors open at 7.30pm. Come by, grab a drink and enjoy the event! :)
