DDC26: Small Coach™ Foundations Workshop with Jim Heid

Small Coach™ is a highly interactive, six-hour workshop created by and for small-scale real estate developers.

Led by Jim Heid, FASLA, author of Building Small, the workshop combines entrepreneurial coaching, personal skill and risk-profile assessment, a real-world development case study, collaborative problem-solving, and guided reflection.

Rather than teaching a linear, textbook approach to development, Small Coach™ immerses participants in the realities of an actual project. Participants will examine critical decision points, competing priorities, risk-management strategies, and the consequences of choices made throughout the development process.

Participants will:

• Assess their entrepreneurial strengths, blind spots, and risk tolerance
• Examine and manage risk across the development process
• Work collaboratively through actual project challenges and inflection points
• Compare possible approaches with the project’s real outcomes
• Identify practical next steps for strengthening their development practice

The workshop also addresses the personal agility, acumen, and self-confidence required to build a sustainable career as a real estate entrepreneur while maintaining balance in life and work.

Participation is limited to 25 developers to preserve the intimate, coaching-oriented format. Workshop materials and proprietary self-assessment tools are included.
