Overview

Join us for a discussion of common hazardous materials found in older buildings and the EPA’s Lead Renovation, Repair, & Painting Program.

Renovating an older home or building could mean encountering health hazards such as lead, asbestos, or mold. Join Indiana Landmarks for a discussion on how to approach common hazardous materials and an introduction to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead Renovation, Repair, and Paint Program (RRP), established to promote lead-safe work practices in pre-1978 homes and buildings. The discussion will cover tips for identifying mold types, asbestos, and lead, and include an overview of lead-safe work practices required for contractors—and strongly encouraged for do-it-yourself renovators.

Presented in partnership with South Bend TradeWorks.

The workshop lasts approximately 1.5 hours. St. Joseph County Public Library Community Learning Center is an accessible venue. Questions? Contact north@indianalandmarks.org.

This event is one in a series of trades training workshops presented by Indiana Landmarks and South Bend TradeWorks aimed at equipping historic homeowners with DIY knowledge and contractors with in-demand skills to offer clients with historic building repair needs.
