Traditions can connect us to our history, culture, and community—but they can also sometimes hold us back. How should we decide which traditions are worth keeping?

Join us for a relaxed and open discussion as we explore:

• Why do we have traditions?
• What makes a tradition valuable?
• Should traditions be preserved or challenged?
• When is it okay to let go of a tradition?

No special knowledge is required. Just bring your thoughts, questions, and curiosity!

8:00-8:20 - Listen to a bilingual lecture on the night's topic while enjoying snacks and coffee

8:20-9:00 - Discussion in small groups

Afterwards - Stick around and hang out with new friends!

It’s important to take the time to think about the difficult questions in life. It can be easy to live your life and just go through the motions.

The presentations at IQ Cafe are always bilingual because we want you to be able to practice Japanese and English! For the discussion time, there are tables with English and Japanese available. Let's practice language together!
