Make Your Own Chip & Dip Platter: A Stoneware Handbuilding Workshop

Create your own handmade chip & dip platter from scratch — a functional stoneware serving piece made for chips & salsa, veggies & dip, appetizers, game day spreads, and your next get-together.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll handbuild your own serving platter plus a coordinating dipping bowl using stoneware clay and simple handbuilding techniques. We’ll guide you step-by-step through shaping and assembling your pieces, with plenty of room to make the design uniquely yours.

Once your platter is complete, choose from our specialty stoneware glaze options and we’ll take care of the glazing and firing for you. Your finished piece will be ready to pick up after it completes the firing process.

No experience needed — just come ready to get a little messy, try something new, and make a piece you'll actually use.

$40 per person includes:

Finishing Options

Studio Glazed — Included: Choose your glaze color and we’ll glaze and fire your piece for you.

Glaze It Yourself — Additional Fee: Return for one of our glazing workshops, offered several times each month, to glaze your piece yourself before its final firing.

Finished pieces are typically ready for pickup in approximately 4–6 weeks.

Important Things to Know

This is a beginner handbuilding experience — no pottery wheel.

Ceramics are an unpredictable medium, and we cannot guarantee that your piece will survive the drying, bisque firing or glaze firing process. Cracking, warping, separation, breakage and variations in shape or glaze can occur. Clay also shrinks approximately 15% from wet clay to the finished piece.

If your piece is not fire-able or does not survive the process, you may choose a finished piece as a memento of your session.

Class length is approximately 45 minutes–1 hour 30 minutes, depending on class size, skill level and project details. Classes begin and end at the published times.

Before You Register

• Each guest must have their own ticket; projects cannot be shared.
• Ages 16+. No spectators — all attendees must be registered.
• No cancellations or rescheduling within 48 hours of class.
• No credits, refunds or rescheduling for no-shows or late arrivals.
• Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in and select an apron.
• No open-toed shoes.
• Wear comfortable clothing that can get messy; no skirts, dresses or kilts.
• Remove loose jewelry and rings; long hair should be tied back.
• Fingernails may get dirty or break while working with clay.
• We are a cashless studio and accept major credit cards and Apple Pay.
