BRASS & BOWS: THE MUSIC OF ADAM THEIS

Jazz Mafia co-founder Adam Theis premieres his newest project: a 12-piece ensemble of strings, horns and rhythm section playing a full night of his own compositions.

Adam has been writing for strings for more than 20 years, from Cosa Nostra Strings to the Brass, Bows & Beats Hip-Hop Symphony, and this is one of his favorite combinations to write for. A string quartet, four horns and a rhythm section give him a huge range of color to work with, from quiet, intimate moments to full-band grooves that hit hard. Expect brand new pieces alongside reworked Jazz Mafia favorites, with plenty of room for some of the Bay Area's best improvisers to stretch out.

Featuring Mike Olmos (trumpet), Chloe Scott Jones (flute), Tommy Occhiuto (sax), Adam Theis (trombone), Shaina Evoniuk (violin), Irene Sazer (violin), Michi Aceret (viola), Lewis Patzner (cello), Dan Zemelman (piano), Sascha Jacobsen (bass) and Aaron Kierbel (drums), plus a special guest.
