Join author, historian, and licensed Washington, DC tour guide Lauri Williamson for a special opening-day experience at the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA), in partnership with the museum.
The exhibit Routed West, explores the work, lives, and stories of Black women artists and quiltmakers shaped by the Second Great Migration. Through quilts, textiles, and personal stories, Routed West offers a powerful exploration of migration, memory, family, creativity, and cultural survival.
Lauri Williamson is the author of 111 Places in Black Culture in Washington, DC That You Must Not Miss and the founder of DC Tours & Events. Her work connects people and places through the stories that reveal a deeper Washington.
For this special opening-day visit, we'll meet at 10 a.m. for a short welcome before you enter the museum. Afterward, you are free to explore Routed West and other museum exhibits on your own and stay as long as you'd like.
