Your Topic:

Pollution: Nuisance, Menace or Disaster?

He was my grandfather.

More than fifty years later, I think we’re finally starting to answer his question.

As an embryologist, I’ve spent the past 25 years looking down a microscope at the very beginning of human life. During that time I’ve watched infertility become increasingly common, fertility treatment become almost mainstream, and the scientific evidence linking our environment with reproductive health continue to grow.

But this isn’t just a talk about fertility.

It’s a conversation about the chemicals woven through our everyday lives, why reproductive health is often the first place we see the effects of environmental change, and what that might be telling us about the future of human health.

This isn’t about fear, blame or expecting people to live perfectly. It’s about understanding the evidence, asking better questions and discovering the small, practical changes that can make a meaningful difference.

The talk blends science, history, storytelling and hope, leaving audiences with a new perspective on the world around them—and perhaps a renewed appreciation that one question asked more than half a century ago has never been more relevant than it is today.

Your Speaker:

Lucy Lines is a clinical embryologist, fertility educator and IVF patient advocate with more than 25 years’ experience in reproductive health. She is the founder of Two Lines Fertility and is passionate about helping people better understand their fertility, hormones and reproductive health. Increasingly, Lucy’s work focuses on the impact our modern environment may have on fertility — translating the emerging science around endocrine-disrupting chemicals and everyday exposures into practical, non-alarmist education. Her work spans IVF patient advocacy, schools, community education and media, with a particular focus on protecting fertility and reproductive health for future generations.
