Ishmael Reed, one of America's fiercest satirist, is back with a bold new play.
In “King Ludd’s Revenge,” Ishmael Reed asks: “Is Elon Musk’s goal to spread racist, misogynistic, anti-Semitic, and anti-immigrant attitudes throughout the solar system? Does he want to establish a 5th Reich on Mars? Will Richard Thiel, his former partner, install a Nazi president in 2028? Is Adolph Hitler on a two-day pass from Hell proud of these two?”
Reviving the 1930s theatrical form called “The Living Newspaper,” Ishmael Reed-- called by The New Yorker, “America’s most fearless satirist,” and by the late critic John O’Brien “the brightest American satirist since Mark Twain,” --tackles these questions in his fourteenth play, “King Ludd’s Revenge.”
Five staged readings of “King Ludd's Revenge” will be performed at Theater 33, 533 Sutter Street, 2nd floor, in San Francisco, California 94102 on Friday and Saturday eves, Dec. 4-5 and Dec. 11-12 at 7:30 PM, with a Saturday matinee on Dec. 12 at 3:00 pm.
