Silent Book Club Mainland — Free Reading Hangout at Atrium, Ikeja
A free monthly reading hangout at Atrium, Ikeja. Bring any book. no assigned reading, no pressure to talk. Just quiet, then conversation
About this event
Silent Book Club Mainland is a free monthly reading hangout for people who live and work on the mainland. No detour to the island required.
It started because of something we kept hearing at Silent Book Club VI: how far people were coming. From Egbeda and Ikorodu, from Badagry, from Awoyaya and Lakowe past Ajah, just to sit and read for an hour. So instead of asking the mainland to keep making that trip, we brought a chapter to it.
Here's how it works: you arrive, order something warm, and settle in. No small talk required, no book to defend. For an hour, everyone just reads, properly and uninterrupted. Then the room opens back up: recommendations trade hands, and strangers become the kind of friends who ask "what are you reading?" before they ask your name.
No membership fee. No assigned book. No one's going to quiz you on chapter three.
What to bring: Whatever you're currently reading: a novel, a memoir, a textbook, an audiobook with headphones. Anything counts.
