ABOUT THE NIGHT
For the first time, Sam Shepard’s Fool for Love will be heard entirely in Spanish.
Tontos de Amor is an intimate staged reading that brings Shepard’s iconic American play into the world of El Teatro, blending live theater, film, music, and English subtitles.
In a motel room at the edge of nowhere, May and Eddie find themselves trapped in the beautiful, messy, impossible cycle of loving someone you probably shouldn’t.
For one night, we’re inviting just 99 people into the room with us.
The evening is also a celebration of what we are building with El Cine + El Teatro. We’ll introduce the El Cine Board and bring together the artists, filmmakers, collaborators, and community helping us build a People’s Theater for Los Angeles.
Come early. Have a drink. Meet the community. Watch the first public life of this translation unfold.
