Keep Going Choir: Fall 2026

Keep Going Choir: Fall 2026

Overview

♫ singing & connection for wild times ♫

In the dark times
Will there also be singing?
Yes, there will also be singing.
About the dark times.
—Bertolt Brecht

Keep Going Choir is a radically welcoming group singing experience for wild and unpredictable times such as these. This is where community choir meets song circle, weaving relational connection, structured warmups, and simple, soulful songs taught by ear. We sing to celebrate the beauty of life, honor collective grief, remember our interconnectedness, and fuel us with the courage to keep showing up for ourselves, each other, and our precious world. No prior experience with singing is needed; all voices are welcome!

What is community singing?

Gathering to sing with others is something humans have been doing for thousands upon thousands of years. Today, the practice of community singing often looks like gathering to sing for the pleasure of singing itself, with an emphasis on connection over perfection. We learn songs through oral tradition (repeat after me), so you don't need to read music or have any previous experience to participate, and the songs are simple enough that anyone can catch on. This is a non-performing, non-religious group that welcomes all voices, even folks who think they aren't "good" singers. There's no hierarchy of "good" or "bad" singers here; all voices belong here, regardless of skill. Whether you're a shower singer or a choir enthusiast, your voice is welcome and wanted here!

What will we sing?

The majority of the songs we'll sing come from the modern community singing movement. These songs tend to consist of short, repeating parts with meaningful lyrics, often with layers that overlap, weaving rhythm and harmony into beautiful musical tapestries. We honor and uplift the artists, lands, and stories where the songs originate. From soothing melodies to vibrant layer songs with juicy harmonies, the themes we sing about include courage, community, grief, resilience, resistance, hope, healing, interconnection, joy, and love.

Meet Your Facilitator

Bex Lipps (they/them/she) is a queer & nonbinary community songleader, artist, facilitator, and mental health therapist (LICSW) who firmly believes in the power of art, music, and creativity to foster individual and collective healing. A lifelong singer who has been weaving community singing and activism in Seattle since 2019, Bex's facilitation is deeply shaped by the teachings of Joanna Macy and the Work That Reconnects (check out their monthly WTR group here). Bex delights in holding spaces that honor the beauty, vulnerability, and complexity of the human experience with a reverence for ritual and a healthy dose of humor & playfulness.

Testimonials

"Bex curates an experience of joy and connection that is much needed in these times. Whether you're the lead soprano or someone who can only carry a tune so far (that's me), you can feel at home in the Keep Going Choir. They do a great job of thawing the "Seattle freeze" and helping people feel part of a movement. The songs lift you up and the messages resonate with the harmonies, building community, resilience, and power." Jen

"Keep Going Choir is a balm for the soul. On joyful days, weary days, grief-filled days... we sing. Every time I attend, I feel my spirit lifted and nourished by like-hearted community. I appreciate the way Bex invites each voice and person to fully arrive, and that connection is emphasized over sounding good. They create a warm and open container for a night of empowering and inspiring vocal delight!! Can't recommend highly enough. Grab a pal and come join us in song! "—V
