Palestinian Poetry Sharing & Zine Workshop with leena and Nadia

This is a creative workshop intended to honor a few of the many lessons learned from our Palestinian kin - that of resourcefulness, ingenuity, and a group space to enjoy our tales and each other, held at The People's Studio - 15 Adrian Ave Unit 1C!

This event starts with learning how to assemble simple zines and decorate using linocut stamps (you can use pre-made stamps by Nadia, or attempt to carve your own if feeling ambitious!) followed by time for attendees to create their own custom zines filled with personal work, poetry which inspires you, or work from on-hand Palestinian poetry collections available to peruse at the event. Of course, you can take home whatever you make, including your stamps!

To wrap up our workshop, we'll hear from Nadia's work and leena aboutaleb's debut poetry collection, THALASSA - there will also be copies of leena's book and Nadia's poetry pamphlets for sale at the event, alongside potential open mic time to share your work...more details to come!

25% of the proceeds will be donated to a Palestinian family who, shortly after the IOF killed their main provider, are currently being forced to pay Israeli courts in compensation for demolishing their home - leaving behind a mourning widow and a one-year-old daughter in a desperate and time-sensitivie situation.

There are a limited number of PWYC spots for community members who may not have the financial resources to afford a full-priced ticket.
