SFIF Festival 2026: Short Stories: Tall Tales

This signature two-hour showcase features dynamic new short films from Ireland's most promising emerging directors. Centered around the iconic and nuanced figure of the Irishmother, highlights include a mother working the late-night taxi shift, a mother longing for her immigrant daughter in New York, and refugees mourning the loss of their mothers to war. Also included in the program is the animated short Retirement Plan, Ireland’s shortlisted Oscar nominee in 2026, narrated by Domhnall Gleeson. The program is rounded out with a beautiful homage to Benbulben, narrated by Niall Breslin and an intense event for an aging rock star in Northern Ireland, played by Aiden Gillen and directed by Emmy nominated Kathryn Ferguson, of Belfast!
