Poetry, the 4 Elements and you.
Come write poetry through the perspective of water, fire, wind, earth, birds, trees, and the changing seasons.
What if your story could be told through water, fire, wind, earth, birds, trees, and the changing seasons?
In this short, poetry writing class, we’ll use nature and the elements as doorways into personal story. Through a series of simple prompts, you’ll explore memory, identity, and the places that have shaped you.
No poetry experience is necessary. You don’t have to know where your poem might go before you begin. We’ll let the natural world give us the language and see what emerges.
Come ready to write, wander a little, and listen for what the elements already know about you.
Bring a journal with you or you may purchase one at the venue.
You are welcome to share your poem with the class only if you are comfortable.
Read poetry written by the instructor, Marshall Lyles.
