Gauri Awasthi presents Mother Wound: Poems, featuring live music!
These raw, vivid poems grapple with questions of identity as a girl becoming a woman, as well as a non-citizen living between homes.
P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Gauri Awasthi to celebrate and discuss the release of her book Mother Wound -- structured around the rhythm cycle of Indian classical music (SA-RE-GA-MA-PA-DHA-NI-SA, equivalent to Western Solfège), Mother Wound explores the meaning of each note, mirroring the cycle of generational trauma that passes through women, echoed through language and recurring motifs, in the end composing songs of words to create shrines of safety and healing.
Gauri will be on stage with special guest musician Shraman Sen, and will be in conversation with Hannah Matheson. Gauri will also sign books after the talk!
Doors open at 5:30pm with the reading starting closer to 6:00pm. Come early and grab a drink from the P&T Cafe!
Tickets and books are available both on eventbrite and at the door.
