Meeting Details

  • Time: Promptly at 9:00 AM (Please arrive 5–10 minutes early so we can start together on time).
  • Location: Dockside Visitors Center (12th Street Park Entrance).
  • Finding the Group: Meet on the path directly in front of the building (street side). If your GPS acts up, navigate to the 12th Street entrance and walk in from the street. We will be right where the path splits around the Visitor's Center. Look for people with cameras gathered near the path!
  • Running late? If you arrive after 9:00 AM, check behind the Visitor's Center near the dock. If you're really late try to find us on the path going around the lake.

What to Expect We will wander around Lake Clara Meer and down to Clear Creek capturing birds, insects, plant life, and urban wildlife. Recent walks have spotted Great Blue Herons, Barred Owls in the Wetlands, and vibrant songbirds near the BeltLine.

About Your Host I'm Don Orkoskey, owner of WDO Photography. While I work professionally as an commercial, event, and headshot photographer in Atlanta, nature and wildlife photography is my passion project.

I started these walks in 2021 to bring people together safely outdoors during the pandemic, and they remain one of my favorite ways to share tips, build community, and celebrate Atlanta's urban canopy.
