PRKN Trash Bash at Columbia Island Marina/LBJ Grove: Kayaking Optional
Come out to clean up the Potomac River! We will be helping divert plastic pollution from the river around LBJ Grove/Columbia Island Marina.
Who?
Join Potomac Conservancy, Friends of Mount Vernon Trail, Four Mile Run Conservancy, and Potomac Riverkeeper Network for a Mega Trash Cleanup event! We'll be hosting events at four different locations to make an even bigger impact on the Potomac River and nearby trails! Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and no prior experience is necessary. Registration is free but required.
Parking Info
Where to park for Potomac Riverkeeper Network's portion of the event?
Please head to Columbia Island Non-Motorized Launch Dock, where there should be plenty of spaces to be found!
The closest parking can be found here, just take a right turn when you drive in the entrance.
You can only access the parking from the south-going lanes of the Parkway, so anyone coming from the north will have to turn around using the roads by the Memorial Ave traffic circle at the end of the Memorial Bridge.
There will be the opportunity to launch personal kayaks, if participants are interested in cleaning from in the water. Please reach out to billszy@gmail.com if you are interested in the BYOBoat option :)
We will also have a very limited supply of kayaks for rent. The cost of kayak rental will be to $10/person for the event.
Want to hang on the island for a bit after the event? We recommend checking out Island Time Bar & Grill!
